Time for freeze dried fresh peaches!
The canned peaches were so good, we wanted to try fresh 🙂
We decided it was time to make freeze dried fresh peaches since the freeze dried canned peaches were so incredible!
I didn’t get very many fresh peaches, as there weren’t tons of good looking ripe one at the store. Because I didn’t have tons of peaches, I also added bananas and strawberries to this batch to fill out the trays. Everything was cut in small-ish pieces and spread out in even layers on the freeze dryer trays.
All the fruits were pre-frozen before going into the freeze dryer. This isn’t totally necessary, but it does save the machine some time and cuts down on general wear and tear. After about a day or so in the freezer, the fresh peaches, bananas, and strawberries went into the Ice Queen (Harvest Right Home Pro Medium).
Pretty sure these are going to be really good!
Oh yeah, I dig these!
I thought the fresh peaches were really good. Hubby likes them alright, but much prefers my canned peaches to these. The canned peaches did have a bit of sugar, since they were canned in a light syrup, so I understand some folks liking those better once freeze dried, lol.
After freeze drying, I put these in mylar bags with oxygen absorbers and in our pantry they went! Maybe one day I’ll make some to sell at market – but for now, all peaches are all ours!
How long did the freeze dried fresh peaches take?
These took about 28 hours or so to fully freeze dry. Not sure how long just fresh peaches would really take, as these did have other fruits with them.
After putting the fruits away, we emptied our drain bucket and then did the two hour defrost.
Happy freeze drying!!
Freeze dried fresh peaches! I like them a lot, so we didn’t sell these, we put them in our pantry to eat lol. Hubby prefers the freeze dried canned peaches to these, since those are a bit sweeter, but I really like both! pic.twitter.com/KMCWJxGlx2
