Green olives (which are a fruit) are in the Ice Queen!
Someone on the internet said freeze dried green olives are good.. so I’m trying it lol
No better reason than that to give something a try, right? hahaha.
We actually had a jar in the pantry that was getting kind of close to the expiration date. So instead of risking them going to waste, I decided to freeze dried them:)
This batch also included 3 trays of baked beans and one and a half trays of sliced pickles (with some shredded carrots). I only did half a tray of the olives. I did pre-freeze all five trays, then into the Ice Queen freeze dryer (Harvest Right Home Pro Medium) they went:)
I personally love green olives – I just eat them plain, right out of the jar. So I’m really hoping these are fantastic!
The green olives are yummy, om nom nom!
The olives turned out pretty good! I like olives and eat them straight out of the jar, so of course I like them, ha. I didn’t even bother sealing them in a jar with an oxygen absorber or anything. I just put a regular screw cap on and will eat them over the next few days.
So how long did the green olives take?
Considering they were also with the shredded carrots, sliced pickles, and baked beans, total time was 23 hours. I actually think it was the olives that made it take so long, they just kept being not quite done.
I did need to defrost the freeze dryer after, so I just let it do the auto-set 2 hours and that was perfect.
Happy freeze drying!!
Freeze dried green olives are om nom nom😂 some turned a bit darker after being freeze dried lol. But I’m enjoying having them to snack on:) pic.twitter.com/9CwUbuJfvm
