Freeze dried lemon slices just to have around, lol
I really had no major reason for doing these, other than to have some around for summer drinks and things.
I don’t always have fresh lemons around, and sometimes I do want a slice of lemon in a drink or something. Someone else said he’s done lemon slices and showed a photo, said they turn out great. So I figured, why not?!
For this batch, I also had some sliced pears, pineapple, and kiwi. After the Ice Queen (Harvest Right Home Pro Medium) did her 15 minute cooldown to start, I put everything in and started her up!
I’m interested to see how these turn out π
I dig these π
I did rehydrate one and it seemed lemony to me. Of course, I completely forgot to take any photos or video, and the rest were already sealed up, go figure… my bad! But yay, they’re awesome!
I put the lemon slices into jars with oxygen absorbers and then vacuum sealed them. I get my oxygen absorbers on Amazon from Wallaby, great value for the price! And this is the Electric Mason Jar Vacuum Sealer I have two of, haha. I like to be able to have two jars sealing at once, and it fits nicely in my drawer because it’s not very big.
How long did the freeze dried lemon slices take?
So it was these lemon slices, two trays of sliced pears, pineapple, and kiwi. The whole bunch of it took 40 hours.
Two hour defrost was needed after this batch, so I did that. I keep my drain line just duct taped to the inside of my bucket, so I always have to check to make sure it didn’t come loose and slip out of the bucket before starting the defrost, ha!
Happy freeze drying!!
