Freeze dried mixed vegetables had to be done, I just use them so much!
Two quart jars of freeze dried mixed vegetables, coming right up!
Once again, I used bags of frozen mixed vegetables for this (like I did with the corn and the peas).
I laid them out on the trays and made sure there weren’t any big clumps of them stuck together and whatnot. Then into the Ice Queen freeze dryer (Harvest Right Home Pro Medium) they went:)
I love how there isn’t always tons of prep work for freeze drying. While I still very much love canning, when I do large canning batches, it can take up 90% of our kitchen, haha.
More freezer space is now available, lol
I do really enjoy clearing space, it’s awesome!
The mixed vegetables turned out fantastic! Very happy with them. After they were finished, I put them in jars. I then added the oxygen absorbers (I use Wallaby ones because I like the way they’re packaged and they’ve always worked well for me), then I sealed them up. The four smallish bags of mixed vegetables ended up filling 2 quart jars, which I then sealed both at the same time using our handheld rechargeable jar vacuum sealers – I got two, I like them:)
So how long did the mixed vegetables take?
Just like the freeze dried corn, the time for these freeze dried mixed vegetables came out to 15 hours and 30 minutes.
Defrosted the Ice Queen freeze dryer into a 5 gallon bucket, as usual:) The bucket works great, as I don’t have the freeze dryer near a sink or anything. As long as I empty it before it gets annoyingly heavy, lol.
Happy freeze drying!!
