I hope freeze dried Peeps are good, because I don’t like them normally, lol.
Seriously, Peeps are so meh, so I hope they’re better like this!
I am very hopeful that freeze dried Peeps will be better than normal ones. I am doing both the Peeps chicks and the bunnies. I’m being as optimistic as I can, haha! I did very much like the freeze dried mini marshmallows, so if these turn out similar, I will be stoked 🙂
Like with the marshmallows, I skipped the tray warming for these, as I didn’t want them to get too big.
Once again, I used the Candy Mode the Ice Queen has (Harvest Right Home Pro Medium). This will be my fourth (I think) batch using Candy Mode without having to defrost the machine. Several batches of candy can be run through the freeze dryer before needing to defrost, which is nice. Makes it easy to spend a whole day just running candies.
Since I truly despise Peeps, lets hope this makes them at least edible for me, haha!
Wowzers!!! I can eat freeze dried Peeps without being grossed out, hahaha!
This is phenomenal! Freeze dried Peeps aren’t gross! Granted, I did just do the normal ones, not any of the crazy flavors they put out. I actually saw (and bought as a joke for fam) some Dr. Pepper Peeps. Honestly, what is the point of that? The plain ones aren’t good, so why do they keep coming out with weirdo flavors?? Probably because of people like me, who buy the totally strange ones as a joke, lol. I am helping to fuel the weirdo flavors… my bad!
Even though I skipped the warming of the trays to avoid them getting too big, they still did grow in size some. Thankfully, they didn’t double in size or anything crazy like that. However, they did grow enough that some hit the top of racks though. So I will need to fully clean the Ice Queen before I run any more batches through. I will write a post on that as well, and come back and link it here 🙂
I also need to purchase larger mylar bags if I decide to do Peeps again in the future. I could fit four of the chicks in a bag, and only three Peeps in a bag if I included bunnies. For the three Peep packs, I did one chick and two bunnies.
So yes, freeze drying Peeps was worth it. I really can’t eat them normally, but these nice and crunchy ones are pretty rad!
Happy freeze drying!!
Ooohhh yeeeaaahhh! Freeze dried Peeps!! I am very much not a fan of Peeps, at all, but amazingly, I can eat these ones! Freeze dried, they’re not bad, very pleasantly surprised!😀
And please, bear with me, I am playing catch up on posts today, since I didn’t do any yesterday:) pic.twitter.com/hBlZUVI3y4— Buck Hills Farm (@buck_hills_farm) March 31, 2024
