That’s right, our freeze dryer has arrived!

The Ice Queen has arrived! I could not be more excited about it!!! I have been researching freeze dryers, how to freeze dry, what I can freeze dry, and all sorts of other things… literally, for months, lol. I got the Harvest Right Home Pro Medium Freeze Dryer.
It arrived on a large box truck, with lift gate. When my order shipped, I received an email that said I had to open it on arrival and that I should not sign off on delivery unless everything looks good. Here’s what the email says (red, bold, underlined IS included in the email, so this important!):
Please do not accept delivery of your freeze dryer unit until you have inspected the packaging and/or freeze dryer for damage.If there is damage to the freeze dryer, and you accept delivery, neither Harvest Right nor the shipping company will be responsible to replace your freeze dryer. You will be responsible.
One huge box is the freeze dryer. It sits on a pallet, and the entire top box lifts off so you can quickly and easily check it over. Everything else ordered comes in a second box: the trays, the oil pump, the impulse sealer, one container of oil, the power cord, drainage tube, owner’s manual, etc. I ordered extras, including extra oil and a freeze drying recipe book. Those were also included in the second box.
You will need assistance when it comes to this machine! It weights about 150 pounds and lifting it alone is not a thing that’s going to happen. You may also need a table to hold your freeze dryer if you don’t have counter space. Make sure you check the weight capacity!!!
Freeze dryer is all set up now and I have to wait…
Of course, hahaha! Once the freeze dryer is delivered, you have to wait a solid 24 hours for the refrigerants to settle.
I can tell you, this is not easy. Going crazy, knowing it’s just sitting there, doing nothing. Just waiting waiting waiting.
And then! The owner’s manual also recommends the first thing you freeze dry is “damp bread” so yay for that. Fun things don’t come for several days, hahaha!
But it’s here, it’s exciting, I’m ready to get to using it!
