Equipment
1 Crock pot (a kinda big one)
or large stockpot
1 Vegetable peeler
1 Blender or food processor
1 Water bath canner
Jars, rings, and lids for canning
Ingredients
20
apples (fairly large ones)
you can use any kind you'd like, I like a mixture of red delicious and honey crisp
1
cup
sugar
I do about a cup of sugar per 5 apples, some people do more, this is about taste and can be adjusted later
3
Tbsp
allspice
again, can start with less and adjust later
3
Tbsp
cinnamon
again, can start with less and adjust later
Instructions
Peel and core apples.
Add apples, sugar, allspice, and cinnamon to crock pot.
Cook on low for about 4 hours.
Start prepping jars for canning around the 3.5 hour mark.
Dump the apple mixture into a blender and blend really well - at this point, you can taste a little bit and add more sugar and spices if you'd like.
Pour mixture into sterilized canning jars, leaving about 1/4 inch head space.
Wipe rims - I use a paper towel with a little white vinegar on it. Then place lids and rings onto jars.
Process in water bath canner for 15 minutes (adjusting for altitude), remove lid and let sit for about 5 minutes.
Remove from canner and wait 24 hours before removing rings and checking seals.
